This free, engaging
training “helps early care providers, TK-12 educators, and other school
personnel recognize and respond to trauma and stress in children and create
nurturing environments for enhanced learning and development.” It was created
by the Office of the California Surgeon General “in collaboration with experts
in education, youth mental health, and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
research”. It is offered in both English and Spanish, with three separate
modules for people who work with children ages 0-5 years old, 5-11 years old
and 12-18 years old
This
would be an insightful training for anyone who works in the centers/programs,
whether you are a teacher or in a leader/administrative role. It shares
real-world examples of how to promote reliance and healing when working with
children and explains how individuals experience stress and trauma, deal with personal
triggers when working with children who are stressed, create a team with your
coworkers to support each other and children, along with providing strategies to support wellbeing in youth and
the adults who work with them.
